Wind Surfing
In Sri Lanka, the surrounding waters of the Indian Ocean are ideal for windsurfing and the monsoon weather is such that half of the island’s coastal waters are still in season for water sports.
Bentota, on the west coast, is famous for windsurfing. The conditions of the sea and wind are optimal during the season from November to April.
Negombo, in the north-west of the country, is also suitable for windsurfing in Sri Lanka, with its lagoons and inland lakes.
Windsurfers can also travel to Trincomalee on the east coast if they are in Sri Lanka between July and August. On the east coast, the best winds blow from July to August when the surfers head for Trincomalee in Nilaveli & Uppuveli.
Windsurfing in Sri Lanka is also possible inside the lagoons and lakes of Negombo, Bolgoda and Bentota.
